April 2, 7:30 PM, Squan Beach Life Saving Station, 124 Ocean Ave. Manasquan On a fateful day, Dec. 16, 1947, the Paramount V from Brielle was out for codfish with a small party of fishermen when the weather became bad. The captain picked up the anchor and headed for home. They almost made it, but as the boat approached Manasquan Inlet it got swamped by three waves and capsized, tossing the passengers into the sea. Seven fishermen drowned. Join Asbury Press Reporter and historian Dan Radel as he recounts this tale and other maritime tragedies in a talk about shipwrecks at the Jersey Shore.

Step Into the Past and Relive Our Heritage with the Sea… The Amity. Cries for help in the darkness of icy-cold salt breakwaters. Broken spars. A handful
All of these come to mind when thoughts turn to the historic significance of the Squan Beach Join Our Station... We Need Your Help The Squan Beach Life-Saving Station will serve as a unique, historic focal point for the Borough of Manasquan as well as a destination for those who are interested in maritime history. As other stations in the state have succumbed to demolition and new development, or private homes and clubs, Manasquan has taken advantage of this wonderful opportunity to secure ownership and open it to the public honoring its role in this seaside community.
