Recently, the SBLSS presented a lecture by a local resident and member, Nick Perone. The topic was Songs and Stories by the Sea. We all sang songs that are familiar to us and learned the history behind each one. Nick also shared information on ships through the centuries to our current Coast Guard vessels. Light refreshments were served and time was spent viewing the artifacts in our museum with our friends and neighbors.

This Sunday, Dec. 15, from 3-5 PM our station will be open to all members and friends. The Station has been decorated for the holiday and was part of the Women's Club open house tour on Dec. 14. So if you have a few minutes, stop by. Remember, too, that our short sleeve, long sleeve T-shirts and hoodies make a great gift for that special someone. Step Into the Past and Relive Our Heritage with the Sea… The Amity. Cries for help in the darkness of icy-cold salt breakwaters. Broken spars. A handful
All of these come to mind when thoughts turn to the historic significance of the Squan Beach Join Our Station... We Need Your Help The Squan Beach Life-Saving Station will serve as a unique, historic focal point for the Borough of Manasquan as well as a destination for those who are interested in maritime history. As other stations in the state have succumbed to demolition and new development, or private homes and clubs, Manasquan has taken advantage of this wonderful opportunity to secure ownership and open it to the public honoring its role in this seaside community. |
